Promoting contemporary Scottish artists and makers
We work closely with a range of artists who live locally or have links to our family. Our gallery and shop is situated at the main entrance to the house. Every year we're a venue for North East Open Studios, and this year Nik Munro, Alex Burnett, Kathryn McFarlane & Jo McCormack (Pear Drop Jewellery) will be showing a wonderful range of work for you to enjoy.
Our yearly Christmas Shop sells hand crafted gifts, as well as artworks by a selection of chosen artists and makes from Aberdeenshire and beyond.
We only take 30% commission in order to encourage local artists to sell their work. All commission from sales gets reinvested into the maintenance fund for Kemnay House.
If you can't make one of our open days and would like to visit, we can arrange a 'view by appointment'. Just contact us through this website or our Facebook or Instagram pages.
Our Artists & Makers

Nik Munro
www.nikmunrodesigns.com
Fine Art Photographer
After leaving art school in her hometown of Aberdeen, Nik moved south to Dorset where she found a career in design and illustration. Some years later, a move to Somerset followed, where she was employed to run a design to print studio. Fast forward another decade, adventures continued, with a whirlwind of visiting and living in various countries whilst, at the same time, renovating an old property with spectacular views of the Aberdeenshire countryside. It is here she called home and quickly set up a studio to work from, surrounded by constant inspiration from the changing light, seasons and dark skies.
Alex Burnett

Artist & Illustrator
Alex graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA (Hons) in illustration in 1999, then worked for a design agency before going freelance in 2003. She was represented by Advocate-Art Agency, working with international publishers for 10 years before gaining her PGDE in Primary Education in 2013. After teaching for over a decade, Alex has now returned to the arts, creating prints, paintings and products inspired by nature and incorporating her illustrative style. Her work can be bought through this gallery throughout the year.

Kathryn McFarlane

Artist
Kathryn is a Scottish abstract artists who uses colour and collage as a means of self-expression. She works mostly in mixed media as it gives her room to explore. Collage, texture, layering, found materials, typography, she loves the freedom to let each piece find its own way and that bit of unpredictability is what keeps it exciting for me. It's part of the magic that makes her want to keep exploring. Kathryn exhibits extensively throughout Scotland and will be part of North East Open Studios at Kemnay House this year.
